The Friendship
Site was produced by the members of
a Spring 2006 seminar at the University of Pennsylvania:
English 390, “Friendship.” The
course explored the history and philosophy of friendship
with a particular emphasis on the history of same-sex
intimacies and recent rethinking of the social. The class
was largely run by the students themselves. Over the
course of the semester, pairs of students ran “pedagogical
experiments” which often actively involved all
members of the class. This website documents the projects
and activities that took place in the class. It also
makes it possible to extend the scope of the classroom
by providing a space for continued communication and
a place to build and share new projects.
